'The Gods too are fond of a joke." Aristotle. Rehearsals have begun in earnest this week for the Giffords Circus 2014 summer tour. From May to September, the famous family-run vintage circus will be touring The Cotswolds and the South West with their all-new show The Thunders.

Directed by Cal McCrystal, The Thunders explores the magical world of Greek myth and legend and promises more of the jaw-droppingly talented acts for which Giffords has become known.  The Thunders guarantees more of the iconic Giffords high jinx with a hilarious 90-minute swords and sandals show.  Expect dancing horses, dashing Dalmatians, live music, flying people, and Giffords favourite jugglers Bibi & Bichu, Tweedy the clown and show stealer Brian the goose. Going where no circus has gone before, the show aims to be their most extravagant and glorious to date.

Established in 2000 by Nell and Toti Gifford, Giffords Circus is renowned for its eclectic circus theatre fusion style. Their unique blend of artisan entertainment combines dance, comedy, acrobatics, juggling, live music and farmyard animals and the shows have amassed a loyal following over the last 14 years. Their signature burgundy and gold showman’s wagons and billowing tent have become a summer staple in village greens, market towns and cities all over the South West.

The Thunders Tour opens at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire on 23rd May and visits various locations such as Cheltenham, Kingham, Blenheim Palace, Waterperry, Stadhampton, Oxford, Barrington, Frampton-on-Severn, Minchinhampton, Bath and Marlborough, closing in Cirencester on 14th September.

For a full list of tour dates, locations and to book tickets, visit the Giffords Circus website at www.giffordscircus.com or call the Box Office on 0845 459 7469. Tickets are priced at £22 for adults and £14 for children. Under 3s are free if they are sitting on a lap.

Circus Sauce, the much-loved 42 cover travelling restaurant, will also be taking bookings this summer. Serving up sumptuous dishes to audiences and artistes alike, Circus Sauce has developed a strong reputation as one of the most colourful and delicious summer dining experiences.
