Staff and friends of The Montpellier Chapter Hotel will all be glued to their television sets on the 8th July as one of their own launches his television series. Simon Hopkinson’s The Good Cook is a six part series shown at 7.30pm on Fridays on BBC1. Simon has been acting as Consultant Chef to the hotel since before it’s doors opened at the end of last year.
General Manager Barry Watson said: “Working with Simon has been fantastic. I have worked with some great chefs in my time but having the opportunity to work so closely with someone whose knowledge is so great and who feels as passionately as I do about food is a once in a lifetime experience. We’ve spent hours fine tuning the menus to utilise quality seasonal ingredients and create simple, mouth-watering combinations for our guests.”
Simon has been working with Tom, focusing on the diner’s perspective, advising on taste, texture and flavours. They have developed a strong partnership and share a philosophy of creating simple seasonal and classic British dishes, using excellent and whenever possible, local ingredients.
For critically acclaimed writer and award winning chef Simon, this series will be his first foray into television.
Simon said: “ I’m very pleased to be given this opportunity to share my love of cookery with a BBC 1 audience. I love to cook and eat well, and nothing gives me more pleasure than preparing good food with great care. If I am with friends, or they are at home with me, I will be in the kitchen and I hope that this series inspires others to enjoy a similar enthusiastic approach.”
The Good Cook by Simon Hopkinson is published on 7 July by BBC books at £25. The Good Cook series will air on BBC 1 from 8 July at 7.30pm.
