There are less than 2 weeks to go to the Beards Diamond Rush - one of the most luxurious treasure hunts the world has ever seen. On 13 September, a staggering 10 real diamonds will be hidden at key landmarks in and around Cheltenham. Hundreds of people are expected to flood to the Cotswold town for this landmark event.

Each stone is a 0.40ct Round Brilliant cut worth £1,000. The diamonds have been exclusively flown in from 5th Avenue, New York. The cutter supplies numerous prestigious jewellers including Tiffany, Harry Winston and Cartier – the jeweller famed for selling the world’s first million dollar diamond – The Taylor Burton Diamond.

The Great Diamond Rush is being organised by Beards Jewellers in association with Maggie’s Cancer Centre, a leading charity that provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer.

Exclusive luxury treasure maps are now available to purchase from Beards, Maggie’s Cancer Centre, Waitrose and Knight Frank, Cheltenham. These will direct people to a general vicinity where they are able to start searching on Saturday 13 September.

Clue Makers branded in Maggie’s uniforms will be at strategic points across the town on Saturday 13 September. They will be offering additional clues to hunters who make an extra £5 donation.

Managing Director Alexander Rose said: “We are incredibly excited to be debuting such an elaborate treasure hunt. So far, the Diamond Rush has received an unprecedented response with enquiries from as far afield as Liverpool and America and a daily flood of people coming to the shop to buy maps. We are aiming to raise an astronomical figure for Maggie’s, which will go towards supporting their amazing and vital work. Here’s to a fabulous and fruitful event and good luck!”

All will be able to follow the event’s progress via the Beards social media (@BeardsJewellers or and get live updates as to when diamonds have been found. The event hashtag will be #DiamondRush.

Anna Mason, Centre Fundraiser at Maggie’s, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Beards on this thoroughly unique and exciting project. Maggie’s Centre’s provide free support to anyone affected by cancer and the Cheltenham branch has helped so many of the Cheltenham community including a number of those at Beards. We cannot wait to see the event unfold and – fingers crossed – raise lots of money! Let the diamond rush begin!”

The finders of the diamonds will all be directed to visit Beards to reclaim their diamond prize. They will also be invited to take advantage of the jewellers in house bespoke design service and have their stone crafted into a beautiful piece of unique jewellery.

Established in 1804, Beards stands as not only Cheltenham’s oldest and largest jewellers, but also one of the longest running family businesses in the UK. Beards is renowned for its first class service, luxurious showroom and exceptional jewellery and watches of the highest quality.

Members of the media are invited to celebrate the start of The Great Diamond Rush by attending an exclusive invite-only Champagne Breakfast at Beards from 8.30am on Saturday September 13. RSVP essential.
